Smart Solutions for Organic Waste, Food, and Liquid Waste Disposal

Are you hauling or managing food, beverage, or packaged organic waste that needs a reliable destination?
BTS Bioenergy provides a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solution for managing commercial organic waste — whether it’s loose, palletized, or liquid in tankers.

Through our advanced anaerobic digestion facilities — the Maryland Bioenergy Center (MBC) and the Maryland Organics Recovery Center (MORC) — we transform organic material into renewable natural gas and nutrient-rich soil amendments that support local agriculture and clean energy goals.

What Types of Waste Do We Accept?

BTS Bioenergy accepts a wide range of organic by-products from food manufacturers, distributors, grocers, haulers, and industrial processors, including:

  • Packaged and unpackaged food waste (expired, off-spec, or returned goods)

  • Liquid waste from tankers, totes, or drums (beverages, dairy, fats, oils, greases)

  • Organics on pallets or in bulk containers

  • Pre-consumer and post-consumer food waste

  • Commercial kitchen or cafeteria waste

Each load is processed at one of our state-of-the-art Maryland facilities — MBC or MORC — designed for large-scale throughput and operational efficiency.

Why Choose BTS Bioenergy?

We make organics recycling simple, efficient, and compliant.
By partnering with BTS Bioenergy, your organization can:

  • Reduce landfill and disposal costs

  • Meet sustainability and ESG goals

  • Ensure compliance with Maryland’s Organics Recycling Law (HB 264)

  • Work directly with experts in anaerobic digestion

  • Gain reliability — even for high-volume or complex waste streams

Our operations are designed for continuous uptime and odor control, with closed-loop systems that capture biogas and protect air and water quality.

How Anaerobic Digestion Works

Anaerobic digestion is a natural, biological process that converts organic waste into clean, renewable energy.
In a sealed environment, microorganisms break down organics without oxygen, producing biogas — which is upgraded into renewable natural gas (RNG) — and digestate, a valuable soil additive.

The result: your waste becomes energy, not pollution.

  • Food and beverage manufacturers with off-spec, expired, or contaminated product

  • Packaged goods producers with returns, recalls, or product line overruns

  • Bakeries, snack, and confectionery plants with dough, batter, and production residuals

  • Beverage companies and dairies with milk, juice, soda, beer, wine, and distillery by-products

  • Grocers, supermarkets, and food distributors managing unsellable or expired inventory

  • Food processors, packers, and cold storage facilities with by-products or trimmings

  • Institutional kitchens, universities, and hospitals seeking sustainable disposal options

  • Corporate and government cafeterias diverting pre- and post-consumer food waste

  • Recycling and resource recovery companies looking for anaerobic digestion partners

  • Sustainability and environmental directors focused on measurable diversion metrics

  • Waste management companies and brokers searching for reliable processing capacity

  • Logistics, warehousing, and distribution centers handling organic returns or rejected loads

  • Municipal programs and public works departments working toward renewable energy and landfill reduction goals

  • Agricultural operations and farms managing spoiled produce, animal feed by-products, and organic waste
